This Week's Activity:
You don't need to pack your bag yet, but start making a list of items to bring to the hospital. Besides a change of clothes and a toothbrush, some items to include:
• A photograph or object to focus on during labor
• Snacks to keep your energy up and gum or mints for bad breath
• Cozy socks and slippers
• Your favorite pillow
• Some light reading material
• A nursing nightie and nursing bra
• A going-home outfit for your baby
• A camera or camcorder, fresh batteries, and film, if necessary

Is there anything you ladies would suggest to bring? Maybe something you're so glad you had- or something you wish someone would have told you to bring...

definately your own pillow! I didn't bring one becuase i thought that it was just for the comfort of having your own things but seriously they can't find any extra pillows in hospitals! also Brandon brought a DVD player and "the office" series. it made labor go by so much faster!
I agree on the favorite TV shows. That will help distract you a lot! Also, they won't let you eat snacks really, but they will let you eat popsicles and I found that to be the perfect treat anyway. It was something to suck and crunch on and didn't make me sick when I was pushing. Just bring a cooler with you. Also, make sure to pack some stuff for your husband. They are there a long time too. They will need something to pass the time and some food for thier bellies!
where did you find that bag!!! i think it is sooo cute!!! someone told me to bring your own toothbrush and all that stuff. I guess some hospitals will charge you for those things, so just like a travel bag thing.
so you don't need snacks or a picture to focus on if you are have a epidural:) bring your makeup so you don't look like crap in all your pictures....i hate looking at my pictures cuz i look awful! other than that they really give you everything you need there!
Ditto on the makeup. I would add basic bathroom supplies, it's good to feel and smell pretty even if you feel crappy. Maybe bring your cell phone charger in case you need it. I've heard that earplugs are good to have when you or your hubby needs to sleep. Other than that I would say a pacifier for baby if you want one other than the hospital ones they give you and a baby blanket for the ride home because they don't usually give you one.Good luck with your bag:)
i would say pillow, pillow, pillow. hospital beds are kind of uncomfortable but if you have your own pillow it might make it bearable sp?
cards are always fun to :) i couldnt really get into the tv while contracting if you are having an epidural than go for it because it might take a while for things to speed up depending on your body
so excited for you connie watching and going through childbirth is so awesome and such a beautiful miracle. we are pregnant with our fourth baby and the excitment never stops

Thanks for the birthday wishes!! Our birthdays used to be SO fun! We should celebrate them together again!!
Yay for babies!! I don't really have any suggestions, but all of this advise I'm going to steal!! Carolyn told Steven you have a baby shower coming up, but she didn't give him any details. Let me know and I'll be sure to make it!!
I can't say from personal experience because I went into labor too early to even pack a bag. However my sister says that she always buys all of her friends, and she personally uses adult diapers when she is in the hospital, instead of the gigantic pads and mesh underwear that they give you. I guess it's a lot cleaner and reduces the chances of leakage. sorry to be so graphic.:)
I'm packing my bag, too. If you're going to be using a "boppy" nursing pillow, bring that so you can learn how to nurse with it.
Can't wait until our babies are out!
Connie, I got your announcement! I work Saturday :( I'm disappointed. I still want to see you though!
Bring your own pillow. It was so comforting to me to have my own pillow. Bring some movies to watch to keep your mind off stuff.
